If you're looking for family-friendly holiday events in Essex County, head over to the zoo in West Orange, New Jersey, to see Holiday Lights at the Zoo at Turtle Back Zoo.
This event begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015. It will be held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 13. The lights will be lit between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. every day from Dec. 14 through Jan. 4, except on Dec. 24 and 25.
A different holiday theme is celebrated each weekend with a movie in the sea lion sound area of the zoo. Your children will be delighted to watch Frozen, The Polar Express and Happy Feet.
In addition, kids will be thrilled to have their picture taken with the princesses from Frozen, and your whole family can enjoy holiday traditions during The Polar Express weekend feature. Your children will enjoy celebrating the winter festivities with furry friends when Happy Feet is played because an educational exhibit about animals that live in colder climates will be available for them to explore.
This is one of the Turtle Back Zoo events that offer plenty to hear, taste and see. Listen to the sounds of cheerful holiday music as you wander through the zoo. Your children won't get cold or hungry during this event as hot chocolate and snacks will be sold. You can even see demonstrations of ice carving on Saturdays.
Make your trip to the zoo into a weekend of family fun by staying at The Wilshire Grand Hotel, NJ.
