It’s the most wonderful time of the year! As we head into the holiday season in New Jersey, there are plenty of holiday events to make your days merry and bright. Get in the holiday spirit at the 4th Annual Downtown Newark Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration.

The holiday event in NJ will take place at the Prudential Center Championship Plaza, on Monday, November 27th, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The tree lighting and concert will begin at 6:00pm.

There’s plenty to do to keep the little ones busy all day long, making it one of our favorite free family-friendly events in NJ during the holiday season. In a previous blog post, we’ve shared the Holiday Light Spectacular at Turtle Back Zoo, another one of our favorite holiday events in Northern New Jersey. If you’re new to the area, both events will keep you entertained and in good spirits as we head into the joyful holiday season.

The Downtown Newark Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration will feature music, free pictures with Santa, a bouncy house, synthetic ice skating rink, numerous carnival games, Victorian carolers and much more! Street and lot parking options are available. Rain date for the NJ holiday event will be on Wednesday, November 29th.

There are many great events taking place at the Turtle Back Zoo NJ for both the young and the young at heart. If you are traveling in our area and looking for things to do this fall, check out the events taking place this October at the Turtle Back Zoo. The Essex County attraction is one of our favorites in our area, located just minutes away from our hotel.

Ales ‘N Tails Oktoberfest on October 14, 2017 at 6:00 pm. New Jersey’s #1 Zoo is celebrating Oktoberfest in the best way! Enjoy a live Oompah Band and sample dozens and dozens of seasonal brews from around the corner and around the world. While the event will be taking place at the zoo, please note that the Oktoberfest event at the Turtle Back Zoo is for guests ages 21 and over only and many of the areas will be closed for the evening. The fundraising event will support the Essex County Parks Foundation, which is an organization that supports local activities and programs in the County Parks throughout Essex County.

Safe Howl-o-ween on October 31, 2017 at 4:00 pm. This Halloween, the Turtle Back Zoo invites you to dress up in your best costume and enjoy trick-or-treating at the Zoo. There will be candy stations set up around the grounds, plus families can enjoy a ‘not-so-scary’ train ride. $3 Zoological Society members. $5 non-members, at the Door Sales ONLY.
